The foundations of our national policy will be laid in the pure and immutable principles of private morality, and the preeminence of free government be exemplified by all the attributes which can win the affections of its citizens, and command the respect of the world. - George Washington, First Inaugural Address, April 30, 1789

It's the Economy Stupid: Biden Calls Manager a Smart-ass When Asked to Lower Taxes!

Was the VP "just kidding"? You decide.

When Biden offers to pay, the manager says, "Lower our taxes and we'll call it even." At a second exchange Biden says, "Why don't you say something nice instead of being a smart-ass all the time." The manager said Biden whispered to him later that he was "kidding." But from Biden's expression, it's clear he doesn't want to hear anything about the government's tax burden. Maybe Biden needs to be reminded of the successful campaign phrase Bill Clinton used against George Bush Sr. during a much milder recession, "It's the Economy, Stupid."
